Company Automet launched its activity on Polish market in 1989, operating in the beginning by the name of a Mechanic-Carpentery Workshop, and since 1994 as AUTOMET. The initiator of the enterprise is Eng. Józef Leśniak, who, for many years, was the Manager of the R&D Office in AUTOSAN, the producer of buses in Sanok. Alongside with the introduction of the company's new name, the activity's future profile was defined, and it encompassed:
- metal production
- plastic processing
- automotive parts' production
In 1998, Automet has broadened its activity by:
- export-import services
- production and trade representation
- whole and retail trade
A year later, the company has extended its activity by designing services and seats' production for urban and interurban bus service, as well as for other vehicles.
A milestone in the company's history was the creation of a modern designing office in 1999. At the moment it is a R&D department which employs programmers and engineers engaged in developing final products, starting from the designing stage, till the manufacture of a finished part. For this purpose, the team has the latest CAD/CAM Pro Engineer software at its disposal.
The next step in the company's development was the year 2001, when Automet started its production of elements of bus interior equipment, and engaged itself in minibus conversions of such vehicle makes like MB Sprinter, Vario, Iveco Daily and WV LT. For the converted vehicles, Automet has been granted the official certification from the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure.
An important moment for the company's profile of activity was the year 2002, when the production of covers for medical equipment for the General Electric Healthcare holding has been launched.
All of the abovementioned stages in Automet's activity have contributed to the intense development of the company and, consequently, to the creation of successive organizational units, departments and offices accordingly to the gauntlets taken. The most significant modifications affected technical and production background, as well as major product lines.
Products' sales and promotion belongs to the responsibilities of Marketing Department, which employs many foreign trade specialists trained in at least one foreign language.
An important step in the company's activity was the introduction of ISO 9001:2000 standards in 2001. The certifying unit is TÜV CERT (TÜV Thüringen e.V.), and the standards were re-certified in 2003. In 2005, the correctness of our quality system's operation was verified again, and was confirmed by the positive result of the conducted control audit.
